You check in with your phone, the app confirms you are actually there, and you get a code to hand the bartender.

How does a check-in work?

Scan the QR code on the table tent, or type the venue code by hand. Your phone shares its location once, we confirm you are within 50 meters of the venue during the 2-7 PM window, and a unique six-character code appears with the offer it unlocks. Show it to staff before it expires in 20 minutes.

Why do you need my location?

Because the deal is for people who actually walked in. GPS verification is what makes venues comfortable giving away a $5 draft and half-price food, and it keeps the leaderboard honest. We check the distance at the moment of the scan; we do not follow you around.

How do points work?

Your first check-in of the day is 50 points. Move on to a second venue the same afternoon and that one is worth 100. A third is worth 200. One check-in per venue per day counts, so the way to climb is to keep moving down the circuit instead of parking in one seat.

Why does moving to another bar pay more?

That is the whole point of the network. Every venue benefits when the room turns over and the crowd keeps circulating, so the scoring pays you to be the person who says "let's go somewhere else." Guests get more deals, bars get more first-timers through the door.

What do I actually win?

Points feed the regional leaderboard and the monthly raffle. Every month the standings and raffle reset, prizes are announced on the raffle page, and winners are published on the site. Separately, the most-loved #myfavorite selfie of the month wins five dinners.

What is the #myfavorite selfie wall?

Post a selfie from any participating venue with a caption, and anyone signed in can vote for it. Everything is date and time stamped and judged at the end of the month. Most views and votes takes the five dinners.

Do I need an account?

Accepted Answer

Yes, but it is deliberately light: email and password, or Google. An account is what ties your codes, points, badges and raffle entries together, and it stops the same code being redeemed twice.

Can I use the same code twice?

No. Each code is single-use, tied to your account and that venue, expires in 20 minutes, and is marked redeemed the moment staff validate it.

Do I need to install an app?

No. It runs in your phone browser and can be added to your home screen like an app. Nothing to download, nothing to update.

What is the After Work Network Challenge?

It is a separate division from Scan Points and #myfavorite. At a participating bar you scan the code, the system confirms you are actually there, and a timed Challenge starts. A counter falls from 1,000 to 0 while you answer, and your score locks the moment it hits zero.

How is the Challenge different from Scan Points?

Scan Points are the check-in ladder that feeds the monthly raffle: first venue of the day, then more for the second and third. The Challenge is its own scoreboard with its own prize pools. Playing one does not change the other.

What is HQ?

HQ is headquarters. HQ decides which Challenge is showing at which bar, and it can change those assignments at any time. No bar permanently owns a category.

Can I play the Challenge at home?

No. Challenge participation is the one part of the platform that requires you to be physically at a participating bar. Browsing, the shop, the selfie wall and everything else work perfectly from your couch.

What is the location quality gate?

Indoor GPS is imperfect, so presence is confirmed from several signals together: the venue code you scanned, your location fix and its accuracy, the timestamp, your signed-in account and a short-lived session created on the server. A single fuzzy reading does not decide it on its own.

What is the 1,000-to-0 counter?

It is the Challenge clock. It starts at 1,000 and falls in real time. The faster you answer correctly, the more each answer is worth. When it reaches zero the session ends, the score locks and the result is final.

How is my score calculated?

Entirely on the server. Every correct answer is worth a base value plus a speed bonus taken from the counter position at the moment you answered. Your browser never submits a score, and it is never asked to keep time.

Are Challenges the same at every bar?

No, and that is deliberate. Bar A, Bar B and Bar C are meant to feel different. Selection uses what has already happened: what you have already seen, what that bar and pod recently used, whether the underlying question has been asked before, which mechanic and category came last, and how the Challenge has performed.

There is a short cooldown per bar so the same seat cannot be farmed. The intended move is to go to the next bar in the pod.

What is a pod?

A pod is a local group of roughly ten participating bars that share a community and a prize pool. Renton is the first pod.

What is the public scoreboard?

A monthly board of locked Challenge results showing only approved public information: rank, display name, score, bar, pod and region. Emails, locations and account details are never shown.

Verified foot traffic in your slowest, highest-margin hours. Every scan is a real person standing in your room, stamped with a location and a timestamp, so you can see exactly which afternoons and which offers moved people.

Coupon sites sell discounts to bargain hunters. This is a circuit: guests are rewarded for visiting several partners in one afternoon, so you are handed the crowd that is already out and moving, not people waiting for the next deal email.

Traffic + AI ($449/month) adds the automated commute alerts and route recommendations that push guests toward you before they leave work. Who sets the offers?

Staff open the redeem screen, type the six-character code, and it either validates or it does not. Expired, already-used, and wrong-venue codes are rejected on the spot.

Your venue page and offers get built, then the QR code is activated on site: someone from the network scans the first code standing in your doorway, which locks your real GPS coordinates. After that, the table tents work forever.

What counts as bad etiquette on the network?

Disrespecting staff or other guests, harassment, slurs or threats, arguing with a bartender over a code, demanding a deal outside the 2-7 PM window, trying to fake a check-in from the parking lot or from home, sharing or reselling codes, running multiple accounts, ballot-stuffing the #myfavorite hearts, posting photos of people who did not agree to be photographed, posting anything obscene or unrelated to a participating venue, tipping nothing while working the discount every day, and misrepresenting yourself as network staff or a venue owner.

What is expected of members?

Treat the room like a regular would: be kind to the staff who serve you, tip on the full value of the check rather than the discounted total, order something, keep the seat moving so the next guest can use it, and post honestly. The deal exists because venues trust the people we send them.

Can a member be banned?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Administrators reserve the right to restrict, suspend or permanently ban any member — and to delete the account outright — for any behaviour that disrespects the people, the businesses or the ethics of the Afterwork Network. That includes abuse of staff, fraud against a venue, gaming points, hearts or the raffle, and anything that puts a partner venue at risk.

What happens when an account is disabled or deleted?

A suspended account loses the ability to check in, claim codes, post and vote immediately. A deleted account is removed permanently along with its check-ins, unused codes, hearts, selfies and raffle tickets, and it is not eligible for prizes. Moderation actions are logged, and venues can report a guest to the network at any time.

Can I appeal a decision?

Yes. Reply to the notice on your account or contact the network and a super admin will review it. Honest mistakes get sorted out; repeat abuse of staff or venues does not get reinstated.
